Yeah I heard about that on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I can understand
preventing strangers from getting too close to babies, being too loud
around them, getting in their face, touching them, etc....but when it's
from a respectful distance, banning it is silly.
I kept reading several months ago to expect random strangers to want to
touch my stomach, because apparently this happens when you're pregnant.
Nobody did it, but I would have FREAKED if they did! It's one thing for a
friend, or if you invite someone to feel the baby move, but if a random
person did it I'd spaz just like if they groped me while not pregnant.
Likewise, now I'm reading that apparently when infants get to the point
where they're sitting up and pointing, people will think it's okay to touch
their little hands. Um, nuh-uh, thankyouverymuch! If random strangers
touch my baby I will freak. That's not okay.
But if random strangers talk to her, or wave, or make goofy faces, or
whatever, that's cool. That could even be sweet.
